Dear Mr Manmohan Singh,
Disappointment in how the Indian Police handled rape cases
I’m disappointed in how the Indian Police has handled rape cases that occurred in India. After reading the article about the recent rape case that occurred in New Delhi, India, I feel that, the way police has handled cases in India is very atrocious. The police merely ask the victim to drop the charges against the rapists and even ask the victim to marry the rapist. I feel that this is utterly atrocious and I’m utterly disappointed in how the Indian Government has also failed to ask the Indian police to improve on how they handle rape cases.
Not only the status of women in India is low, but they also get blamed for almost everything. They are required to wear traditional clothes even though its already in the twenty-first century! They are also not allowed to use hand phones as others say that using hand phones are reasons why more elope cases occur.
Girls or women in India, are raped everywhere in India now a days. For example, the recent rape case in New Delhi, India. The girl was raped cruelly and the six rapists used their hands to remove her internal organs just through her private parts. The girl has also suffered heavy injuries in her private parts, and she was cruelly tormented. Her boyfriend could not even do anything to help. It took one and a half hours just for the injured pair to get to the hospital. As mentioned in the news, every single minute counts for a person who is dying. Police were late to arrive and they needlessly delayed. And because of this case, protests occurred. From a peaceful protest to a violent one. Not only Indian females protested. Even the turban male Sikh protested and a quote from what the male Sikh says: ‘Real men don’t rape’. I strongly feel that the government should do something and stop rape cases from happening so often by setting up more strict rules such as giving death penalty to those that rape. This might reduce much more rape cases in India. Thank you for taking your time to read this letter.
Yours sincerely, Catherine

Dear Amanat,
Your death has made the world realize how India are treating women with shame and disrespect to the society. It also had made us all understand that how the society in India viewed rape victims.
Over all the years, the status of women in India are not well-known. They are unable to do certain things in life that we can. For example, the use of handphones would caused to runoff with their boyfriends. And not only that, women studying on college are only eligible to wear traditional Indian clothes to prevent any sexual harassment. By not abiding the rules, women who are caught had to pay fines. The society in India is very unfair.
In India, police who handle rape cases often not do paperwork and accompanying the victim to the general hospital. This is so as the India law, it defines rape as sexual intercourse. In the Judicial system, they would not charge the offenders but only state that it is a false alarm and would not go further into the case.
Because of your death, women in India are fighting for their rightful respects and deserves. It had also made rape victims to come forward to seek justice. Because of it, it had also made the prosecution of the rapists sped up and enforces on the law on rapists severely.
So dear Amanat, you did not die in vain. You had help the women in India to fight for their lawfully rights and encourage rape victims to seek justice.
Yours Catherine
