Is haze issue a big
challenge for Singapore? Well, I agree with this statement. Over the years, the
haze situation was kept in controlled, but only this year, the haze situation
worsened. This brought in many inconvenience for Singaporeans as most of them
were unprepared.
This unpreparedness
has brought public in concern for surgical masks for example, the surgical
masks went out of stock and Singaporeans had to search for them in every
pharmacy. As far as this is concerned, the government has also stop lessons in
schools during June holidays to protect the students from the haze. The
government is perturbed for our health and is also taking measures to ensure our
health.
Everyone is anxious
that there may not have enough stock for the surgical masks. As such, more
stocks have been replenished. The government has also distributed free masks to
impoverished family, telling them to take care of themselves throughout the
haze period. Other than health problems, the haze issue has severely affected
the tourism industry.
Singapore is
well-known for its clean country. When the haze issue is a hot topic in
Singapore, tourists are concern for their health and change their travel plan.
People also change their eating locations by going to the indoor food courts
instead of hawker centre. Business in hawker centre declined, but stall owners
can do nothing about it.
So, is haze issue a
big challenge for Singapore? Well, I think it is a big challenge as it is a
long term issue, but as long as Singaporeans are united, this crisis can be
overcome. Also, if we take sensible precautions, look after ourselves and each
other, the haze will not disrupt our lives.
