Mr Manmohan Singh [Draft 4]

Prime Minister of India
11 Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Dear  Mr Singh,
Suggestions on how to reduce rape cases in India

I am displeased in how the India Police Force dealt rape cases that occurred recently. The worldwide sensation rape in India has become a national debate and people felt indignant because the rapists are not severely charged or dealt with. I felt that the government should enforce more strictly on the law and the rape cases in India have to be put to a stop.
I would like to suggest that the law on rapists should be a death sentence. This would not only raise the awareness of the people in India, but also people who are trying to rape think twice about it before doing the action taken. By implementing laws that requires their life taken, people would not dare to do crime things more often and not regard it as a joke. Police force may also undergo trainings where they would gain more knowledge and would be more skilled to do certain things more professionally.
Women in India should also have equal treatment as men. Women would be able to gain respect and also a sense of freedom for them. As rape cases are often reported, women should have the rights to have their phones beside them all the time to call for help when in need. Enforcing stricter laws in India may also let the country have a crime free place to live in.
To prevent more cases of rape from happening, women must go in groups and often avoid uncrowded places as this would ensure their safety. The police may also need to keep a lookout for suspicious looking people. By having a tight security around the vicinity, less rape cases would also be happening. Police patrolling the area every hour may ensure tight security too.
As generations passed by, the people in India should more or less know about the change of the laws implemented and charges faced if they commit such crimes again. Lastly, I hope you would take things into considerations and would like to thank you for spending time reading my letter.

Yours sincerely,
Catherine
